The existing analysis of the manufacturing space has been superficial, and the time has come to delve deeper into the intricacies of this sector. The Solar Manufacturing USA 2026 event in Austin, Texas on 22-23 September 2026, is a testament to this shift, as it will be the first event in the United States to focus on domestic PV manufacturing investment, production, and related equipment and materials supply chains. The event aims to address the gaps in knowledge that have resulted from the lack of production for ingots, wafers, and cells in the past decade. The U.S. solar manufacturing space is moving quickly to form a domestic manufacturing ecosystem, with production equipment still being served by tool makers from Asia and Europe, but materials demand being onshored as real hubs evolve. The key to understanding the U.S. PV manufacturing segment lies in a bottom-up analysis of company-specific capex and technology/process-flow operations.
